Copy Editing

IDS has an in-house team of copy editors to improve the overall coverage and presentation of content.  Our copyeditors are thoughtful readers and sensitive critics. We have subject matter expertise and hands-on experience in SSTM publishing.  

We copyedit various materials in the disciplines of medicine, chemistry, biology, mathematics, economics, finance, marketing, information technology, engineering and physics. 

Copyeditors at our end are involved in three stages. As soon as the book has been accepted for publication, the editors look at the typescript to correct any recurring faults in consistency, style or layout and other general  changes for which they ask the author's approval to change. At the second stage, our copyeditors brief the designer and production department as to the specifics to be taken into account in designing the book and in planning its production. Although our copy editors' main interest is editorial, the job also involves production consideration. With their in-depth knowledge of the book, the copy editors can make the author's intentions clear to the designer and typesetter. 

Our proofreaders bring a unique dimension to the art and science of copy editing. Our Proofreaders perform careful reading for meaning, spell check and punctuation, comparing each phrase and content against the manuscript copy and the style, presentation, page make-up or layout etc. Proofreaders make suggestions to the  author for certain changes wherever required. Our proofreading team is guided by the basic principles of consistency, clarity, literacy, good sense and correct usage as well as supporting the author's individuality of expression.

Data Coding, Imaging and Indexing

Advanced levels of in-text coding and formatting requirements are handled for individual clients as specified. We specialize in the most popular coding requirements such as SGML, XML, HTML, Miles, Telos, QuarkXPress,  MS-Word for Windows and Arbortext 3B2.   Our depth of experience also allows us to handle proprietary formats

Scanning is done as part of the pre-press activity as well as for document management applications. Indexing services are also provided for document management applications.

Page Make-Up/Typesetting

We use a variety of page make-up platforms including QuarkXPress, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign and 3B2. All of the journal typesetting process is XML typesetting based, with deliverables as PDFs and XML structured electronic adhering to a specific DTD. Our pre-press experts use high-end PCs and Apple Macintosh systems for typesetting and meticulously create the desired look and feel of the final document. As a part of our page make-up services, our graphic designers ensure the best quality line art drawings and charts, logo design, image editing.  

Data Capture

Our experienced data entry operators and proofreaders, operating under stringent quality checks at each stage, produce accuracy levels in excess of 99.995%. We can process jobs using proprietary software in combination with a variety of word processors, publishing software and databases. We specialize in the processing of encyclopedias, books and journals of academic nature - medicine, chemistry, physics, mathematics, legal, financial etc.
